Hand-drawn piece showcases the hidden medium that is used by the digital artist, the liquid crystal. Like paint to a painter, liquid crystals are the physical substance that allows designers to create new shapes and colours on laptops and tablets, making them Liquid Crystal Designers (LCD). This piece features the "behind the scenes" of another piece by the artist, Hillary & Tenzing, and how it is displayed on a LCD screen. Massi Teleglyphs, an engineer-turned-artist, creates original artwork in the Pacific Northwest.

Nos Plantes (Our Plants) is a hand drawn poster that celebrates some of the most famous plants we depend on everyday. The classification used is based on the plant appearance and growth pattern, also known as plant physiognomy. In this method, we can see the well-known grasses, trees, shrubs, vines and forbs that give us things like bread, chocolate, coffee, wine, and chamomile tea. We will likely continue to see their prices fluctuate as farmers tackle the challenges of growing these vulnerable plants in a changing climate. For now we celebrate this amazing curation of some of Nature's finest

Ikigai is a Japanese concept meaning "reason for being," representing the intersection of what the world needs, what you love, what you can be paid for, and what you're good at.

IKIGAI

Daisugi, a 14th century Japanese forestry practice where wood is harvested from a platform cedar without having to cut down the whole tree. I came across this technique while learning about sustainable forestry practices and was mesmerized by the beauty and scale of these ancient manicured cedar trees.

DAISUGI

Vintage style print inspired by French Champagne advertisements from the late 1800's. The two feathery characters are Kagu birds from New Caledonia. They are flightless endangered crested birds that love to catch a drink with a mate on the forest floor on their tropical island in the Pacific.

Leave the lab and go outside to find it in the Garden This hand-drawn poster highlights our reliance on nature to produce some of our most complex compounds that we use for medications, coatings, and cosmetics. We rely on chemicals produced by biosynthesis that occurs within natural organisms such as heart medication (digoxin) from the foxglove flower, or skincare moisturizers (hyaluronic acid) from bacteria (S. zooepidemius)
